Communication is one of the most important things in any relationship: friendship, romantic, among family, etc, yet it is one thing that we tend to let go. There are many reasons why we may not decide to go ahead and talk to someone about something that may be bothering us. Perhaps we are afraid of what they are going to say or think about what we feel, what we bring up. Perhaps we don’t want to deal with confrontation and would rather walk away or ignore it. However, what we don’t realize is that the confrontation begins with self ~ the confrontation has already begun within ourselves when we keep things inside. There is a constant tug of war inside, over and over again we run through our mind what was said or not said, done or not done, etc between us and this other party. When all we have to do is talk with the person so that we can begin to attempt to resolve it. You cannot know where someone else is coming from and that person won’t know where you are coming from if you don’t talk about it. If you don’t talk about something that is bothering you, then it will cause resentment and you will start to make a lot of assumptions about how the other person feels or why she did what she did. These things are merely assumptions, they are not true. You are making an opinion from what you know and what you have experienced of life and people.
Why do that? Why not just let these frustrations go by starting a conversation with someone you may be troubling with? Watch how the whole entire situation changes and your emotions calm down. When you allow someone to be themselves and you allow yourself to be as you are, then miracles happen, healing occurs and relationships are strengthened. Why not make it a point today to talk to someone that you may have had a misunderstanding with? Get your feelings and thoughts into the open and let the other person do the same.
